Bloated Belly or Leaky Gut?

Posted: July 30, 2016

Bloated belly fat is something that most women complain about at one time or another. Whether it be bloated belly or leaky gut, this is a problem that is growing! (just like your belly) For some, it’s an ongoing issue that plagues them for many of their adult years. Most people think it’s just because they have gained weight and are older. Although that could be the case, that is not the reason for a bloated, or uncomfortable belly.

I am sure you’re familiar with the term “gluten free” or maybe even, “leaky gut.” Now don’t click off yet. These phrases seem to be spoken in the media and written about in magazines a lot lately. It isn’t simply a trend or fad to get you to buy a certain kind of food, but an ongoing issue that there happens to be some pretty valid science behind.

Let’s talk about some common symptoms associated with bloated belly  that I have been asked about regularly in my gym.

  1. Bloated, uncomfortable feeling.
  2. Pants fitting too tight.
  3. Trying to lose weight, but can’t seem to make a difference.
  4. Chronically tired after a meal.
  5. Irritable.
  6. “Bathroom issues” either constipated, or “having to use the bathroom right after a meal”

When you look at these symptoms, they all have one thing in common. They all relate to digestion, and absorption. Food is not made like it used to be. It is made to make money, not nourish our bodies so that we can live long and strong. If you purchase foods from the center aisles of the supermarket, or eat out often, they you are filling your body with chemicals, preservatives, additives, and things that tax your digestive system. Our digestive systems work overtime to TRY to digest and absorb basically what could be called foreign objects! We are loading our bodies with toxins and then wondering why they just sit there in our gut.

Now, on the other hand, if you eat a diet of organic and/or pasture raised or grass fed chicken, fish, turkey, pork and beef while including healthy fats, organic fruits and vegetables. then you probably don’t have any stomach issues. I call that “eating foods without a label”. That is primarily how everyone should eat. That is also how you can pretty much banish all bloated belly, get rid of extra bodyfat, AND feel energized and strong.

If eating foods with NO label sounds to difficult, then at least eat foods that have very few ingredients on the label, and make sure that you are familiar with each ingredient. I heard a friend say, “if you can’t read it, you can’t eat it!”.
