FAT BURNING, OR FAT STORING……WHICH HAVE YOU CREATED?

Posted: September 27, 2011

You have the ability to turn your body into a calorie, and fat burning machine. It is a choice. Just like choosing a career, a mate, or a paint color. It takes a deliberate plan, and follow through. Of course there are some factors as genetics, and age, to account for, but if you have read my previous posts, you know that we have the ability to “outsmart” our genes.

Make your muscles bigger. No other way around this one. Bigger muscles burn more calories. Put away the little free weights, and learn how to squat, deadlift, and use a leg press machine. Make every rep count. Make every rep a challenge. This is where you will get the most caloric burn while you are lifting, and after the work out.

Do cardio intervals. Forget the long boring dragged out 45 minute routines. Go for a 15 minute interval set on the stair stepper, or treadmill. Or better yet, outside. Go for 30 seconds of sprinting, with 1 minute of a moderate pace back up to the sprint. Work up to 20 minutes. If you can go longer than 20 minutes, you aren’t sprinting hard enough!

Eat 5-6 meals a day. Protein with every one!

If you are still of the uneducated mindset (ladies) that you will eat only 1 or 2 meals a day, and not eat til tomorrow, WAY TO GO! You have now created the perfect fat storing machine.
Or better yet, when do you eat the most…….when you are going to watch a movie, or sit at a desk? BINGO…….fat storage at it’s finest!

When determining your meals in advance (as the leanest people do) you should ask yourself one question….”what will I be doing in the next 3 hours”?  Eat your largest amounts of calories when you will have a chance to burn them off! Eat the least amount of calories (especially carbs) when you will be sedentary…..yes, that means watching your favorite show, or sleeping.

I love food. It is not my enemy. I eat for strength, energy, and vitality. My meals taste amazing. It is what I do for my body to feel, and look great.
Make this your life plan. Make this your daily mantra.
