Firm up after GLP-1 weight loss

Posted: May 3, 2026

Weight loss is a sure thing if you’ve been using GLP-1s. However, what you may have been surprised about is how loose your skin is now. I’m going to guide you on how to firm up after GLP-1 weight loss.

First of all, congratulations on finding something to kick-start your weight loss. Possibly, this is the first thing that has ever worked. As you shop for new clothes, you may feel good in smaller sizes, but still not confident as you skin looks slack.

Losing weight too fast leads to crepey skin that hangs on your body. Now, you may have lost so much weight that only surgery will really tighten it. However, I’m going to give you some easy and applicable tips to help you fill out that skin, without putting on extra fat.

First of all, hopefully, your doctor told you that you’d have to consume a minimum of 125 grams of protein per day. Now that may seem impossible, but you have lost fat and muscle. Unfortunately, any loss of muscle creates a slower metabolism. Add that to the lower caloric intake, and you have a recipe for saggy skin that makes you look older.

Secondly, if you are not strength training to prevent muscle loss…you’ll get weaker and look older. Not exactly what you had in mind, right?

The best thing to do is eat to fuel your body with energy, and to feed your muscles what they need so you can feel and look great.

Eat eggs, chicken, fish, beef, and turkey, and drink protein shakes to fill in the gaps when you don’t feel like eating again. Aim for a minimum of 100 grams of protein per day. But, really try to get in 125…and even more if you are working out hard and want to put on firm muscle.

If you do get into the gym, don’t do any cardio. This causes you to burn through your muscle tissue that you are trying to keep.
Work your largest muscles on your body with complex moves.

Don’t try to get in as many reps as you can. This will also burn through muscles.

Work your legs and hip area, including your glutes. Do squats, goblet squats, weighted hip bridges, walking lunges, and deadlifts. Use a weight heavy enough that your form is perfect, but you cannot do more than 5-8 reps.
Do chest presses with dumbbells or barbells.
Do back work such as assisted pull-ups, dumbbell and cable rows, and standing bent over rows.

Forget working to failure. What you want is to coax your dormant muscles to grow.

If these exercises are new to you, hire a personal trainer for a while, until you are comfortable. I work out with a coach, twice weekly because I know he’ll push me harder than I would alone.
If you cannot afford a coach or a gym membership, and are completely new to exercise.

Although it combines cardio with bodyweight moves. The moves are purposefully in order so you work your largest muscle groups to help them grow.

Ladies, don’t be afraid that adding muscles will make you “look bigger.” What will happen is your new firm muscles will help you look toned, stronger, and younger! And, if you feel flabby and are using weight loss injections? This will help you firm up after GLP-1’s weight loss.
Promise!

To your sexier, stronger, and firmer body,
