Dr. Oz, we all know who he is. Dr. Oz states in Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s “Eat to Live” book, that “unlike many diseases, the cure for obesity is known”. To be considered obese, one third of your body weight must be made of fat. Do you know that 34% of all Americans fall into this category! Do you?
We live in a society of quick fixes. We mindlessly eat junk. We eat foods that have little or no nutritional value. We binge, we consume, and we feel horrible. We are bloated, depressed, and lethargic. However, we are really good at one thing……making excuses.
“I’m too tired to work out”
“It’s too expensive to eat healthy”
“I work too late”
“I can’t afford a gym membership”
“I tried it once, and it didn’t work”
“I don’t have time to cook healthy”
blah, blah, blah……………
Does this sound like you? Do you have time for Dr’s appointments? Do you have a favorite show that you watch every night? Do you always order fries as a side? Do you eat when you are starving? Have you tried all of the fad diets? Then it is time for a change. That day has come for you….not someday, but TODAY.
Start with your kitchen. Take a look inside your fridge. Is it a “quick fix” of fat, and useless calories? Or is it loaded with lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables? Is everything pre-packaged, or is it in it’s pure form? Does it have a list of un pronouncable ingredients, or just a few know ones?? I met someone recently that tells her kids “If you can’t read it, you can’t eat it”!!! That is how we all should eat. Pure foods, from nature, from plants, from the Earth. If you added plants to every meal, you would increase your fiber, your vitamins, your minerals, and your satiety levels exponentially! By doing this, you would fill up on foods that prevent disease, and weight gain. Foods that provide nutrients that the body craves…….and eventually you will learn to crave. Yes, believe it or not, you begin to crave healthy, nutrient dense foods!
Take a look at yourself. Are you energetic? Are you in tune with what your body needs in the form of fuel? Do you even know what it feels like to feel energized after a great workout, then a great meal? Do you know what percentage of bodyfat you carry?? Get these numbers soon. If you carry a lot of visceral fat, that is the fat surrounding your vital organs, you are setting yourself up for disease. If you continue on the path you are on, if you have a high percentage of bodyfat, you WILL end up with diseases. You WILL end up with type II Diabetes,or possibly Heart Disease, or bad knees, or swelling, and, or depression. The list goes on and on. This does not have to happen, but it is a very real possibility. You are in charge of your body. You are in charge of your future, and of your health. You can, and should change your life NOW.
There are so many ways to achieve your goals that all you have to do is pick one. Better yet, pick some. Between the internet (you are reading this right?) , books, phone apps, magazines, gyms, personal trainers, nutritional consultants, the list goes on, and on. You can get coaching, and great advice for free these days, or you can commit to change, and pay someone to help you. Whatever it is, make a choice to change.
Dr. Oz, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Mark Hyman, Tosca Reno, are just a few names in the industry that are committed to helping people living a long, fit, fat free, disease free life. They have websites, books, and blogs like this that I read daily for tips on how to achieve energy through diet, and exercise. Looking at them makes me smile…for I know that they practice what they preach!
