The season of viruses is upon us. This year, not only are more people traveling than in previous years, but, more people are getting sick. Makes sense, but can be very scary for some.
I do things daily to boost my immune system. Preventing viruses from getting you sick is easier than trying to get better from Covid, or RSV, or any other flu bug that takes you down.
The stronger you are going in, the shorter the duration, or the less ill you’ll feel if you happen to catch a bug. These days, you practically have to live in a bubble to not hear of entire families that were sick, or hear about it on the news. However, refraining from a social life has its downfalls, as loneliness and solitude are a recipe for depression. And, depression weakens the immune system as it is.

Instead of getting sick and having someone go to the drug store for “vitamins” and OTC meds, start today by strengthening your immune system.
Getting enough sleep, and drinking enough water are starters for overall wellness.
Next, start by boosting your body with nutrient-dense foods.
Eat high-vitamin C-rich citrus fruits, such as oranges and grapefruits, and add lemon to water and tea.
Add beans which are high in zinc to salads, soups, stews, and chili.
Take in protein with every meal, as this nutrient nourishes cells and overall strength.
Don’t rely on supplements, but take them during this season, in addition to boosting your nutrients with food.
Recommendations are:
Vitamin D3: 2,000–5,000 IU daily
- Especially important if deficient
Vitamin C: 500–1,000 mg 1–2x/day
- Supports immune cell function
Zinc: 15–30 mg/day (short-term only)
- Helps limit viral replication
Quercetin (optional): 500 mg/day
- Acts as a zinc ionophore and an anti-inflammatory
Magnesium glycinate (200–400 mg)
- Supports sleep, immune signaling, and the nervous system.
Get sunshine when you can, fresh air and a brisk walk outdoors do wonders for immunity.
Get at least 7 hours of deep sleep.
Drink at least half of your bodyweight in ounces of water daily, minimum.
Eat a nutrient-dense diet, and supplement during the cold and flu season so you can feel your best naturally.
Preventing viruses from getting you sick is easier than overcoming them when they already got ya!
