Raise Your Heart Rate with Lower Body Exercises

Posted: June 6, 2013

Want to get your heart rate up, and raise your booty too? Then these lower body exercises are exactly what a flat set of buns needs. The reason your heart rate soars when you do these exercises is that your blood will go to whatever muscles you are working. So, if you are working a group of muscles simultaneously in the lower portion of your body, your heart will pound as your blood flows to those muscles. When your blood pumps, your oxygen is consumed at a more rapid rate as well. When you lift either your body weight, or a dumbbell away from gravity, your heart rate goes up even more. Add these exercises to your regimen, and burn calories while you build muscle and shape your lower half. Do in sets, add single exercises, mix it up, or do en entire lower body sequence until your muscles are screaming for rest. Always warm up. Always eat a good carb loaded meal about 1 hour before, stay hydrated and never forget your post workout shake. When you sign up with your name and e-mail address on the side of this page, I will send you my report on why your post workout shake can be the determining factor in your recovery. Remember, your next workout is only as good as your recovery from your last one!

Here are some of my favorite lower body exercises that get your heart rate raised, as well as your rear end!

Bodyweight Squats

Barbell Squats

Dumbbell Squats

Goblet Squats

Jump Squats
