Live Longer, Leaner and Stronger

Who want’s to live to be 100? I do. And, unfortunately, when I ask a room full of people if they do, the answer is usually “no”. When I inquire as to why not, I am told that people “don’t want someone else taking care of them” and “don’t want to be weak in a nursing home”…No Kidding! I want to live longer, leaner and stronger and I am going to share some tips on how you can too!

Living to 100 in these times is more probable if you are already past 50. Unfortunately with the obesity epidemic of our children, they are the first generation that might live a shorter life than us. I think that is extremely sad. That is exactly why I have instilled in my son, AND my parents, how to live longer, leaner and stronger.

I have worked with hundreds of people in my gym that I own with my husband that is a Firefighter. He tells stories of 911 calls to people’s homes that are in their 50s, and 60’s that are either sick, weak or obese and cannot move correctly, so they get hurt doing everyday things. Or, they fall,or they are on so much medication that the medication is what’s shortening their lives.

 

You can get stronger, have better posture and look and feel at least 10 years younger in the next month with these simple tips.

  1. Move your body into positions that use your largest muscles.

Don’t know what to do? Squat into a chair and stand up unassisted. Now, try that on one leg. Surprised that you cannot do it? That is a gauge of how weak your legs and core are.

2.  Hold a plank position for at least 30 seconds.

Can’t do that? You should be able to. That is a direct correlation to how strong or weak your core and back are.

3. Eat only single ingredient foods or foods that are cooked at home and are not coming from a package.

Yes, our bodies are filled with toxins that get us and keep us sick. That is why the average adult over 50 is on 5 medications! (my husband the Firefighter thinks more!)
