How to Boost Your Metabolism

If you’re a woman over 40, then you may have said “I have a slow metabolism” at one point in your life. As we age, between sedentary lives, poor diets, and losing muscle…we gain weight. As a gym-owner and personal trainer to women, I am going to show you how to boost your metabolism so you never have to diet again.

One of the biggest reasons your metabolism slows down as you age if you’re female, is from muscle loss.

We lose about 8% of your muscle around 30. By the time we are 50, that number doubles. If you have done a lot of cardio, and/or dieted, you have most likely “broken” your metabolic rate and lost muscle along with maybe some weight.

When we diet and cut out too many calories, we lose water, muscle and if you are lucky…some body fat. The problem with this method is that now you have to take in a lower amount of calories to maintain that lost weight.

The way around this yo-yo method is to boost your metabolic rate by adding on new muscle, and making sure you don’t lose any more.

The best way to do this is through resistance training, weight lifting, body-weight exercises and eating a nutrient dense diet.
