One of the biggest complaints of women over 40, is fatigue. As a gym-owner, and nutrition expert, most women want to know how to have more energy after 40.
The ability to have more energy comes from a group of factors ranging from lifestyle to hormone fixes.
Certain practices will either sabotage your energy levels or help boost them.
If you are someone who relies on coffee to get you going, then read on! After we turn 40, our needs change, and so should many of our habits that worked when we were younger.
Coffee is not a bad thing unless it’s the only thing you rely on when that 3 o’clock slump sets in.
Instead of grabbing another cup of Joe, try a brisk walk outside, or a few jumping jacks to get your blood flowing. That one extra cup at 3, could make you forfeit a night of deep sleep, and the circle will continue.
If waking up is a chore, and you hit the snooze three times, then set your room up for deep sleep. Sleep in a cool room of about 65-68 degrees, and make sure the room is dark. Treat yourself to bamboo sheets for a silky bed, that is cool and comfy.
Turn off all tech devices 45 minutes prior to sleep. Wind down with a calming tea, and maybe even a 10-minute meditation.
What you eat has so much to do with how your body expends energy. Do you eat too many carbs for a sedentary day? Or, have you skipped too many calories since you are trying to lose weight?
Try adding in more calories from protein and fats if you’ll be sitting all day. Add in more carbs if you’ll be active, or very busy.
Drink water throughout the day to fortify brain power and every cell.
If you shift all of these and you’re still always exhausted, try reducing stress, get your hormone panels checked and see if your thyroid is working as it should.
